Itinerary

Day 1 : Sandakan

Be greeted by our friendly guide upon arrival at Sandakan airport. Transfer to your hotel before spending the day free at leisure.

Sepilok Nature Resort

Day 2 : Sepilok - Rainforest Discovery Center

Head over to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre in the morning. Watch a short introductory video about the centre's significant efforts, then on with a 10 minute walk through the rainforest to witness the feeding of the Orangutans before observing them over at the outdoor nursery.

Thereafter, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) and explore the nearby elevated canopy walkway, which is suspended 25 metres above ground. After sunset, go on a guided night walk in search of nocturnal animals after sunset. Return to your hotel.

Day 3 : Sandakan - Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Morning at own leisure. After lunch, depart to the jetty and embark by speedboat for a 2.5 hours journey to the multi award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge with the opportunity to view wildlife and birds. Right after checking-in at Borneo Villa, go on board for a late afternoon cruise in search of Borneo’s wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge to savour a scrumptious dinner at Melapi restaurant, followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide.

Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Day 4 : Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, it will be free at leisure. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife.

Day 5 : Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Spend the day free at leisure relaxing in the swimming pool or tasting the finest wine. It’s also a great chance to pick one of the optional tours available at the lodge.

Day 6 : Sukau Rainforest Lodge - Lahad Datu - Borneo Rainforest Lodge

Rise early and prepare for your trip to Danum Valley. After breakfast, we journey 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu before our onward journey to the award-winning nature lodge, Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Enjoy lunch upon arrival and check-in. In the evening a slide show and explore nature trail leading to canopy walkway. If weather permits we go spotlighting to view some of the nocturnal animals.

Day 7 : Borneo Rainforest Lodge

Spend the whole day exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to waterfall for a refreshing dip in rock pools. Return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, explore more trails.

Day 8 : Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Transfer Out

Free at leisure until check-out. Depart back to Lahad Datu. Take the late afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu.

For the comfort and convenience of our guests, it is recommended to travel light by preparing an overnight bag for your stay in Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Complimentary storage in Sandakan will be provided for any extra luggage. (For guests departing & returning to Sandakan Only).
