Sukau Rainforest Lodge has been selected as a case study on ecotourism at the forthcoming APEC tourism working group meeting in Cairns, Australia in April 1999. The Managing Director of Borneo Eco Tours, Albert Teo has been invited by the Office of the National Tourism, Australia to present a paper on the environmental aspect of Sukau Rainforest Lodge and to share his expertise on ecotourism which has led to Sukau Rainforest Lodge winning several tourism awards in the last three years.

The newly appointed Minister of Culture, Environment and Tourism, YB Datuk Wilfred Bumburing made a one day visit to Sukau Rainforest Lodge on 17th August 1998. During his visit Datuk Wilfred also officiated at the presentation of the sixteen water tanks to sixteen families in Sukau village. The funds for the purchase of the water tanks were raised through donation from individuals and companies organised by Borneo Eco Tours. Refer to projects for more detail.
