Jacob Woods, a 17 year old from Australia is not your ordinary teenage boy. Just last year, Jacob did an incredibly special thing for the Borneo Land Conservancy (BLC) initiative, a project under our non-profit arm, Borneo Ecotourism Solutions and Technologies (BEST) Society. After hearing about the project that aims to buy a parcel of land for the purpose of conservation and research, Jacob decided to use his passion for music by bringing people together to raise funds for the Borneo Land Conservancy project. After months of planning, Jacob successfully put together a Nina Simone tribute concert that raised AUD$ 5,500 (RM 16,500), which went to the conservation project here in Sukau, Kinabatangan.

During a site visit to Borneo Land Conservancy.

Fernando, Assistant General Manager of Borneo Eco Tours (Sandakan), explaining about the center that is already in the works of being built at BLC.

He's currently our special guest here in Sukau Rainforest Lodge (SRL) and we're mighty excited to have him here and to share the Borneo experience with him. He's finally here in Sukau, Kinabatangan to see for himself the land that he has helped to raise funds for. We visited the Borneo Land Conservancy site where a research center is in the works of being built, and is expected to complete in the next three months. The center will include three bedrooms offices for students are researchers alike to carry out conservation and ecotourism research once it is established, and it will be called Sukau Ecotourism Research Center. A room in the center will be named after Jacob Woods for his great contribution to BLC.

Our Founder and Managing Director Mr. Albert Teo also had the privilege to personally bring Jacob Woods around Sukau and also present him with a certificate of appreciation for his contribution.
