A tour which focuses on the contrast between riparian and lowland rainforest, with great opportunities for education and wildlife sightings. A plethora of possibilities awaits as wildlife carry on day-to-day activities in a controlled and sustained environment, to avoid the impact on the surrounding. Tabin is well known for its bird life, so bring along your specialised gear to seize this opportunity.
| DAY 01 |
- On arrival at Sandakan Airport, transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 1000hrs. Watch short video show of the rehabilitation process.
- After lunch, transfer to Sandakan jetty for 2½ hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rainforest habitats.
- After check-in and afternoon refreshment, we take a river cruise using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate species. Sukau is home to Borneo pygmy elephants, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbill in Borneo.
- Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide show and interpretation by naturalist guide.
- Overnight at the newly renovated 20 rooms Sukau Rainforest Lodge, named by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 jungle lodges in the world.

| DAY 02 |
- Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills and hot Sabah tea.
- A 0600hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife.
- After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour on the Hornbill Boardwalk located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist.
- In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife.

| DAY 03 |
- Depart for a 27km overland journey to Gomantong Caves. Trek 20 minutes through the rainforest to the cave entrance.
- Your guide will brief you on the cave fauna including bats, swiftlets and crabs among others and their contribution to maintain a balanced ecology and significance to the local economy. When in season, witness the collecting of birds' nests by the local people using bamboo ladders and poles.
- Continue on another 2 hours drive to the town of Lahad Datu for lunch.
- Transfer from Lahad Datu to Tabin Wildlife Reserve, one of the largest wildlife reserves in Malaysia, on gravel road about 1 hour.
- Upon arrival, register, unpack and rest.
- In the afternoon, visit the Lipad mud volcano located nearest to Tabin base.
- After trekking through the jungle for twenty minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano that is known to be frequented by deer, wild boars, elephants and birds. Look out for and identify footprints of animals.
- Walk up the Observation Tower for wildlife viewing or bird photography.
- After dinner, there will be night activities to look out for nocturnal wildlife.

| DAY 04 |
- Today, we trek through the lush green jungle known for its rich biodiversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad's Waterfall.
- Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy the refreshing splash coming down from the waterfall. Explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax.
- Return to base in the afternoon.
- At dusk, go for bird watching within the reserve.
- After dinner, there will be night activities to look out for nocturnal wildlife on a different route.

| DAY 05 |
- After breakfast, stroll to the nearby rock pool or riverside.
- Choose to take a dip in the water or simply immerse yourself in nature.
- Transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for late afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu.
